Welcome to MonarchButterfly.tamu.edu!
Monarch Butterflies are beautiful insects and essential pollinators. The Monarch Service Project is a way for Texas A&M students who take Dr. Craig Coates’ ENTO 322: Insects in Human Society class to play an active role in protecting these butterflies. As a part of the course, students commit at least 20 hours to planning and executing a project to help Monarch Butterflies and the environment. The projects range from creating a butterfly garden at a local elementary school to designing a monarch exhibit, to even developing a Monarch Waystation at a park in Brazos Valley.
These essential pollinators deserve our support, and this website is a resource for you to discover past and present student projects and to find more ways you can help the Monarch Butterfly thrive in the Brazos Valley. So click through the tabs, and be inspired!
Interested in Sponsoring a Project?
Contact Dr. Craig Coates at ccoates@tamu.edu to apply for sponsorship in the Monarch Butterfly Project. Include your name, organization, site address, and a brief description of your proposed project. If applicable, please attach the necessary forms (i.e. background check forms) and waivers for students to participate in your project.
Projects dates are always tentatively set for the second half of the academic semester. Application due dates and project timelines will be announced when they are available.
We are always looking for ways to help these butterflies, and we would love to hear about any opportunities you might have to protect the Monarchs!
